Fun Pool Games for Kids

There aren’t many places where the holidays and pools go together, but luckily we have pool weather pretty much all year round. If you have family coming to visit or bored kids on a break from school, give some of these fail-proof games a shot! Make sure the level of swimming required matches your little swimmer’s skill set and be aware of child pool safety.

Marco Polo

One person is “it” and closes his or her eyes, calling out “MARCO” and listening for responses to find other players when they call out “POLO.” When another play is tagged he or she becomes “it” and starts the process all over again.

Water Tag

A modified version of Marco Polo, the person who is “it” splashes around to catch other players.

Noodle Jousting

Two players sit on inflatable rafts or a similar pool toy and use pool noodles to joust with one another. The goal is to knock the other player off of the floating device.

Rubber Duck Race

Each player gets a rubber duck and pushes it across the pool by any means possible, but there is one rule: You can’t use your hands!

Water Wars

Super soakers and water balloons never get old! Just be careful not to let water balloon pieces get caught in the filter!

Relay Race

Split kids into teams and designate a baton to be passed as they swim from one side to the other. Make each team swim back and forth 5 times and the first team to finish wins! This is a great way to sneak in some cardio for your kids while they have fun!
