5 Fun Themed Pool Party Ideas for Kids

As a pool owner you have the setting for a perfect pool party for your kids. Everyone loves a swimming pool, especially children. If you have a kid with an upcoming birthday or other special events on the way then consider throwing a pool party for children. In addition to swimming pools, children also love themed parties. Combining the two, you have the recipe for a great party. Here are 5 fun American themed pool party ideas for kids.

 Fourth of July Pool Party

One of the biggest events of summer is the fourth of July. Children of all ages love this holiday. There are fireworks, snacks, and big meals to enjoy. The top American themed pool party idea for kids is a patriotic celebration on the fourth of July. Start with decorations. Visit a local dollar store or party store for inexpensive decorations and accessories. Purchase red, white and blue napkins, paper plates, pinwheels, balloons and other basic decorations.

While many fireworks may not be safe for children to set off, most love sparklers, glowing snakes, and other traditional fourth of July items. Just make sure that an adult lights these items and closely supervises children during their use.

School’s Out Theme

As summer approaches, kids are getting ready for school to get out. Consider throwing a school’s out themed pool party. Decorate your pool area with school related decorations, such as pencils, books, rulers, etc. You can also prepare yummy summer treats such as pizza, sno-cones or ice cream, and candy with plenty of ice-cold drinks! You can also prepare an iPod dock with speakers and let kids take turns playing DJ!

Alligator Themed Party

Throughout the US, Florida is mostly known for one thing – alligators. Purchase an alligator-shaped ride-on float and anything you come across that will help you transform your backyard into a Florida swamp. You can also make alligator-shaped cookies, party hats with alligator designs and green-colored beverages (green apple or cucumber coolers). To make it more fun, put green pool noodles in the pool. This type of party should be a hit with the boys!

Disney Themed Party

Who doesn’t love Disney? Disney is always a popular choice when it comes to pool party ideas for kids. Also, any Disney themed decorations that you purchase could be used for other parties, including birthdays. You should have no problem finding Disney decorations at any store that carries party items. You can incorporate mermaid costumes or fish floats. Goldfish crackers, cupcakes decorated with under-the-sea designs and jell-o or watermelon cut into starfish shapes are just few snacks that would be perfect for a Finding Nemo or Little Mermaid bash!

Wizard of Oz Themed Pool Party

The Wizard of Oz is very popular with kids. Visit the party store to look for cut-outs of Dorothy, the Tinman, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion or other Wizard of Oz characters. Prepare cookies decorated with ruby slippers or Wicked Witch hats. You can also set up your backyard to look like this musical fantasy by creating your own yellow brick road, colorful Munchkin Land flowers, or Emerald City.

These are just few pool party ideas for kids. As you plan a party, get ideas from your children. Ask them what kinds of foods they would like and what themes they are interested in. The main thing to remember when considering pool party ideas for kids is that everyone should have fun.
